I don’t have the best track record when it comes to keeping up with favorites posts, but I’d like to think 2016 is a new chance to try again. I wore makeup a lot more than I thought I would in January considering we moved and I’ve been inside the apartment unpacking boxes at a snail’s pace since. Despite the craziness, I played the role of makeup investigator last month and I definitely found some products I’m nuts about.
When I got the Marc Jacobs Decadence Eau de Parfum for Christmas I decided to hold off on wearing it until we moved to Virginia. There’s that special something about associating a place with a scent and I thought a new place deserved it’s own perfume. Decadence isn’t a scent I thought I’d love, but there’s something about the floral notes (Italian Plum, Iris Flower, Saffron, Bulgarian Rose, Jasmine Sambac) and amber that make it an instant classic. It’s warm, complex, and a lil sexy, I’m not going to lie.
Contour, blush, and highlight have become my favorite steps in my beauty routine since I’ve been playing around with the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Contour Palette in Deep and the Too Faced Love Flush Blush in Your Love Is King. Falling for the Pro-Contour palette was a bit unexpected. The contour shade is the perfect mix of cool and warm that looks natural when applied to the face. It makes contouring a less intimidating experience. The highlight shade is a peachy tone I didn’t think I’d like either, but it looks awesome with my skin tone. I’ve sung the praises of Your Love Is King before so I won’t get into it too much, but this blush really gives my complexion life and lasts forever once applied.
The Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette got me into some shades I thought I wouldn’t be able to pull off, but I’ve been experimenting and loving them. The warm tones (Salted Caramel, Semi-Sweet) and even the olive green (Gilded Ganache) have quickly found their way into my daily routine. I think I’m going to attempt a look with some of the red tone shades soon. I’ll let you know how it goes.
My lips have been dry and dying these last couple of weeks and the Milani Moisture Lock Lip Treatment in Rejuvenating Peach Mango has been my lip savior. I never thought I’d like a lip oil, but it’s really healed and conditioned them in a way most balms never have.
