Beauty Exploration: A Punch of Purple.

Hey there, bow friends!

For Christmas, my awesome, lovely mom went out of her way to pick up some drugstore lip products I was lusting after.  Upon opening them I realized I have a big purple problem.  I’m absolutely  addicted.  I thought I’d share them with you as I’ve been wearing them nonstop and 2 of them are quite new.

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm; Maybelline Color Elixir; Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids

Shameless; Amethyst Potion; Brazen Berry.

My absolute favorite out of the three is the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Shameless.  I saw the entire Matte and Lacquer Balm range back in the beginning of November and immediately fell in love with this shade.  If you’ve been reading from the beginning, you’ll know I do love a risky lip color (even if it makes me look like a zombie eggplant) so this one was right up my alley.  This shade is soo intimidating in the tube.  Upon application it does come off quite dark, but it’s honestly just a gorgeous, wearable, deep purple.  Even though it’s called a matte balm, I think that its more of a satin finish.  It’s not drying at all and doesn’t settle into my lips or get weird.  I actually wore it on a dinner date and got some compliments!  And yeah, beau actually likes it.Brazen BerryThe Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids Lipstick in Brazen Berry (Could these names be any longer?) is a new addition to my Maybelline collection.  This pick was inspired by Sarah Hawkinson.  After she dyed her hair lilac, she was big into lilac/lavender lips and this was one of her favorites.  On me, this comes off much more pinky/fuschia.  I am a bit disappointed that it doesn’t look as purple as it does in the bullet, but it’s still a gorgeous color.  I guess it can be more of a stepping stone to purples for those who are a little afraid of taking the plunge.
Amethyst PotionThe Maybelline Color Elixir in Amethyst Potion isn’t something I expected to love so much.  Once I got it and popped some on, it was love.  It’s like a highly pigment lip balm/lip gloss combo.  On its own it looks like a deep plum.  On my lips, it enhances the natural color of my lips and makes them a little more purple while nourishing them.  My favorite use for this is actually over Brazen Berry.  It makes it look as purple as it actually looks in the bullet.  I think I’m going to try and grab more of these because the formula is just so gorgeous.

So what do you think?  Do you have any of these products in any other shades?  Would you try and go for purple?  You know, it is quite an unusual color, but I’ve been wearing these products quite often and I just can’t get enough.  I hope you all are doing well.  What have you been up to?  Are you all back in school?  I have been for almost 2 weeks and let me just say, these have been 2 very long weeks.  I’m trying to keep my chin up though.  On to the weekend!  I hope you all have a good one!

We shall talk soon!

PS  YOU GUYS.  B&B just hit 5,000 followers.  The smile on my face couldn’t be any bigger.  I’m so over the moon with how much my little baby is growing.  I love you all so much.  Sigh. ❤
